Shinoyama takes actress Hijiri Kojima through the American Southwest. High-contrast color, desert light, a Japanese photographer applying his visual logic to a landscape that has no use for it. The result is neither Japanese nor American, something that could only have been made by someone looking at the wrong place from the outside and finding it completely legible.
